RALLYING THE COMEBACK CATS
Date: May 11, 2022
With the series tied 2-2 in the First Round, the Panthers hoped a loud home crowd would spark a Game 5 win. Things got off to a rough start when the Washington Capitals grabbed a 3-0 lead early in the second period. Then the Panthers turned it up a notch, scoring five unanswered goals to take not just the game, but the series lead. Carter Verhaeghe led the way with five points, a new franchise playoff record. Panthers fans excitedly waved these rally towels for the comeback Cats. “I thought we started taking over the game like we’ve done so many times this year,” said interim coach Andrew Brunette. “Showed our resiliency and belief that we’re in any hockey game.”
