BREAKING FRONT OFFICE BARRIERS
Date: 2020
Prior to the 2020-2021 season, the Panthers made history by naming Brett Peterson their new assistant general manager. The hire made the former player and agent the first Black assistant GM in NHL history. Peterson took the job because he wanted to help bring a Stanley Cup to South Florida but breaking a barrier was a nice plus. Said Peterson, “Having the opportunity to be the first at something is even more exciting, something I never would have expected.”
