Aleksander Barkov cemented his place in Panthers history with this puck. Just 24 seconds into the second period, Barkov followed the Florida rush toward the New Jersey Devils net. Carter Verhaeghe controlled the rebound of his own blocked shot and passed the puck to Barkov, who netted it for his 189th career goal. The captain’s score moved him past Olli Jokinen as the franchise’s all-time leader in goals. “I know so many great players played in this organization. Olli Jokinen played for a long time, played unbelievable hockey here,” Barkov said. “To be in the same category as him wasn’t even a dream. Now it’s reality. I am really proud.
